Digital Media Technologies production involves a number of technologies that allow visual and audio media to be combined in a new way for communication. Applications of these technologies are vastly seen in the entertainment, education and advertising industries. All modern societies are strongly influenced by various digital media productions, which touch each of us in many different ways in our professional and personal lives. In recent years, the scope of digital media technologies has taken an ever increasing audience and will continue to evolve as new technologies and applications develop for this combined form of art and technology.

Program Overview

The Diploma of Digital Media Technologies program provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in designing, developing and refining digital media technologies as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team. It provides the opportunity to work in new and emerging digital media technology areas, such as online, and interactive design and development, and with tools and equipment, such as software, Web 2 tools, technologies and mobile devices.

The skills and knowledge obtained in this course are fundamental for developing complex digital media productions, like computer games and animation. Students interested in games design and 3d animation are encouraged to continue their studies with AIT’s Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media (Games Development)where students learn advanced 3d modelling skills and games design theories and techniques.

Target Audience

This qualification is aimed towards individuals (both domestic and international students) who wish to obtain a breadth of knowledge and skills in the field of digital media. It is recommended that students looking to enrol to this course possess some background and/or interest in digital media and IT. Many students moving into this program have previously completed some level of training from previous Certificate or Diploma qualifications, the industry or in high school.
