Film Special Effects Workshop

In this three-day workshop, you will learn the techniques of the experts. Create your own Michael Bay explosion scenes, composite blood splatter into fight scenes, and, if you’re lucky, take flight like your favourite DC or Marvel superheroes. This workshop will teach you the skills that you need to write, direct, and produce professional level film effects and export the finished film sequence for viewing online or in HD.

On the first day, you will select from a range of backgrounds, and decide what objects you wish to insert (i.e. flames, explosions, blood, weapons, etc.).
On day two, we will rehearse and film the green screen sequences, taking care to ensure that the placement and movement of actors will interact with the planned placement of special effects objects.
On day three, your green screen images can be made transparent by applying filters to remove the green from the image. Once this is done, you will see the actor, the background, and the objects all in one screen.

Game Development and Unity Workshop

Do you want to make video games? Are you interested in creating 3D animation?
Master the art of game development in this intensive two day workshop.

Learn how to use the most popular software in the 3D/Games industry, acquire awesome animation and coding skills, and create two cool projects to take home to show friends and family!

Students will learn how to use Maya to animate a 3D character, and prepare that character to be brought into a game engine. You will learn how to animate 3 animation states – standing /running/jumping! By the end of the day, not only will your character be game-ready, but you will also render your efforts into a turntable video reel.
Unity3D is currently one of the most popular game engines – creating many games from Hearthstone, Deus Ex: The Fall, Assassins Creed: Identity etc. We will import your animated 3D character into Unity3D, and use that to design a fun adventure game! By the end of the day, you will have a playable game in EXE format to show friends and family. Combined with your Turntable video reel of your character animations, you will leave the workshop with two awesome small projects.
